Abduction attempt reported in Holmesburg

A 31-year-old woman narrowly escaped an abduction attempt last Saturday in Holmesburg, Philadelphia police say.

The attack occurred at about 10:03 p.m. on the 8300 block of Frankford Ave. when the woman was waiting for a bus. An unknown man asked her for the time before he grabbed her and tried to pull her into Pennypack Park.

She broke free initially, but the man picked her off the ground and tried again to pull her into the woods. When the woman continued to resist him, the attacker dropped her and ran into the park alone. He was described as black, 18 to 24 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a small build, short hair, dark blue shirt, blue jeans and dirty sneakers.
