The Mayfair Business Association is planning its annual Mayfair May Fair, scheduled this year for Saturday, May 21.
The day will start off with a Fallen Heroes Run.
Later, Frankford Avenue will be closed, from Cottman Avenue to Sheffield Avenue.
The day will include a car show, military vehicles, a beer garden, a monarch butterfly release and live music, headlined by Jamison.
In other news, the Mayfair Community Development Corporation and the Mayfair Business Improvement District are still searching for executive directors.
Mike “Scoats” Scotese, president of the business association and owner of the Grey Lodge Pub, is chairman of the Mayfair BID. He plans to oversee the initiative with consensus and transparency. The BID will focus on safety, programs and capital improvements.
Meanwhile, the Friends of Mayfair Memorial Playground will hold a basket raffle fundraiser on Saturday, April 16, from noon to 3 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Marian Hall, 8532 Frankford Ave. There will be more than 100 baskets, along with activities for children. The annual Pennypack Music Festival will begin on May 11. Concerts will take place at the bandshell near the park entrance at Welsh Road and Cresco Avenue. Concert organizers rely on sponsorships and donations.
The Mayfair Business Association will meet again on Thursday, April 14, at 10 a.m. at the district office of state Rep. John Taylor, 4117 Longshore Ave. ••
