Authorities are still trying to figure out why a Frankford teenager was stabbed and how he subsequently got run over by a car last Thursday evening.
At about 8:21 p.m. police responded to a report of a person with a gun and found the injured Zaire Stephens, 19, lying on the 1500 block of Foulkrod St. The officers determined that Stephens, of the 4700 block of Griscom St., had been stabbed in the chest and back, then struck by a vehicle.
Contrary to early news reports, the motorist remained at the scene until police arrived. Stephens was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m.
The motive for the stabbing is unknown. Police have released no suspect or description. ••
