Woman charged with stealing from church

Higgins

Police have arrested the Bristol, Bucks County, woman who allegedly broke into St. Martha’s Church and stole the proceeds from a book fair last month.

Sarah Higgins, 29, was walking along the 3100 block of Cedar St. in Port Richmond on Sunday when officers stopped her for investigation, identified her as the wanted burglar and arrested her without incident. She was charged with burglary, trespassing and related offenses.

With the help of surveillance video, police determined that Higgins allegedly entered the unoccupied church at about 7:50 p.m. on Feb. 2, went to the basement and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. She fled to a waiting car driven by another person. ••
