State Rep. Mark Cohen (D-202nd dist.) last week sued his primary challenger, Jared Solomon, for libel and slander.
Cohen, represented by A. Charles Peruto Jr., is suing because of a Solomon campaign flier mailed to citizens of the 202nd Legislative District.that says of Cohen, in bold capital letters, “Did you know that he bought a second home in Harrisburg and billed us $30,000 for it!”
Cohen, who received the flier in the mail, called it a “total libelous statement.”
Solomon dismissed the suit.
“Mark will do anything to distract voters from the issues we face in our neighborhood,” he said. “Instead of joining me in a debate in front of voters, Mark Cohen wants to hide behind lawsuits, gimmicks and gags. As for me and my campaign, we will not let this distract us from speaking with voters and addressing the serious issues we face in our community.”
