Straw purchaser faces charges
A Philadelphia woman is facing federal charges after she allegedly acted as a straw purchaser in buying two guns from an Upper Holmesburg shop last October.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office identified the defendant as Sabrina Brooks, 34. Her home address was not disclosed. Last Oct. 13, she allegedly went to Frank’s Gun Shop at 4730 Blakiston St. and bought a .380-caliber Magnum Research Micro Desert Eagle and a 9-millimeter Ruger SR9. Although she stated in paperwork that she was buying the guns for herself, Brooks actually bought the guns for another person who cannot legally purchase them, authorities claim.
If convicted, Brooks faces up to 15 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. ••
