Rolon
Police have announced the arrest of a third suspect in the March 19 non-fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy behind Archbishop Ryan High School.
Charlie Rolon, 18, of the 1700 block of Rachel St. in the Bustleton section’s Scotchbrook rental development, has been charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and weapons offenses in connection with the late-evening shooting near the Ryan baseball field. Police captured him March 22, but did not disclose the circumstances of the arrest.
The shooting occurred at about 10:30 p.m. that Saturday. The victim later told police that he and friends were hanging out in a wooded area next to the ballfield when two unknown teens approached them and asked them about buying drugs. The victim said that hostile words were exchanged between the groups. The two unknown teens walked away and appeared to make a telephone call. They were later identified as Jonathan Rojas, 16, of Camden, and Joshua Sanchez, 19, of Gloucester.
A short time later, Rolon arrived and joined Rojas and Sanchez, who approached the victim and his friends again. As the young people argued, Rolon allegedly pulled a gun and shot the victim in the leg. The three suspects fled on foot.
The victim was treated at Aria Health’s Torresdale campus and released. Police spotted Rojas and Sanchez walking on the 3800 block of Elmore St. shortly after the shooting and arrested them. ••
