AG: Tacony man possessed and shared child pornography
Gans
A Tacony man was arrested last week on child pornography charges after authorities discovered that he allegedly used his computers to store and share dozens of illegal images.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of Michael Gans, 38, of the 4200 block of Barnett St., on April 12, along with the arrest of a Carlisle, Cumberland County, man for similar offenses.
Agents were conducting an investigation of online peer-to-peer file sharing when they found child porn images on the network and allegedly traced them to an IP address at Gans’ home.
The investigators searched the home and allegedly recovered multiple computers containing 50 illegal images. Gans was charged with 50 counts of possessing child porn, two counts of distributing child porn and illegal use of a communication facility.
He posted 10 percent of $25,000 bail and is free while awaiting an April 21 preliminary hearing. ••
