Achillies

Achillies needs a playmate

Achillies was brought to Philadelphia’s Animal Care and Control, at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave., when his owner entered hospice care.

The adorable dog has floppy ears, speckles all over and soulful eyes. He loves playing with tennis balls. He is 5 years old and about 70 pounds, and is trying to remain house-trained while at the shelter. He loves people and other dogs.

Adoption hours are weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ••

Julia is a sweetheart

Julia is a friendly, darling cuddlebug of a young lady who loves to curl up on the couch with people. She is in the care of Northeast Animal Rescue.

The 11-month-old cat loves playing with her feline housemates and chasing toys and a laser pointer. She is a very easygoing, laid-back cat who would do well with just about everyone. She and her sister were born outside to a friendly stray; their mom has already found her permanent home.

Julia is spayed and current on vaccinations, and has tested negative for the feline immunodeficiency and leukemia viruses.
