Police investigating Frankford man’s death

Authorities are trying to determine why a man died inside his Frankford apartment on Friday after his girlfriend called 911 to report he was trying to commit suicide. The 50-year-old man, whose identity was not released, had no visible wounds when police arrived at the apartment on the 4800 block of Frankford Ave. at about 1:54 a.m. But he was leaning into the kitchen sink and appeared to be bleeding. Paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead within minutes.

Police were called to the scene when someone reported a “person with a weapon.” The victim’s girlfriend, 27, told officers that he had tried to kill himself. Later, police learned that he had been vomiting blood for several days. The results of an autopsy are pending. ••
