The 200-year-old Bethany A.M.E. Church, one of the oldest congregations in Northeast Philadelphia, will host a fish fry fundraiser on Friday, July 15, starting at 11 a.m.
The public is invited to support the church while enjoying fish, shrimp and chicken platters at 8898 Ashton Road, just north of Holme Circle. All proceeds will support the mission of the congregation, which is a member of the world’s largest traditionally African-American church.
Available platters will include four extra large jumbo shrimp ($13), four whole chicken wings ($8) or fish platter tilapia/whiting ($10). All platters include choice of potato or macaroni salad, along with corn bread and tossed salad. Available sides include potato salad, macaroni salad or string beans ($3 each). Pound cakes, pies or banana pudding desserts cost $3 each.
Meals may be ordered for eat in or take out, as long as supplies last. Call 215–484–8381. ••
