It’s time to dump Trump

So the tax dodger Donald Trump made himself out to be a guy who is not part of the “political system” and berated those politicians who are in government.

He sure has made a fool out of his hate-filled supporters. Arrogant Donald was the guy who paid politicians to get his way while doing “business” with them and helped them be who he says the people should now despise. He says things then tries to fix them after he gets caught and called on it — that’s a guy full of ego.

He wants to add the presidency to his suspect resume as a trophy like his younger wife. His own party members knows he’s not fit and he is an embarrassment. He has no real plan and flip flops when ever he gets called on his so-called ideas. He uses fear mongering to get his base upset as if this country is in danger from a small group of radicals that want U.S. out of their area as occupiers.

His false university hustle scheme is being called on for fraud. He milks others to support his greed. Don’t forget the vet issue where he made a false promise, got caught and then tried to patch it up. Trump has no real policies — that’s why he always dodges serious questions and talks over you to get his clueless rhetoric in.

Just because you’ve built real-estate, took advantage of those during the mortgage crisis of 2008, found loopholes in policies, set up gambling casinos, made millions off the desire of those looking for a quick fortune does not make you a president.

The only ‘change’ we see in him is when he changes his mind for convenience.

DNC was hard to watch

It reminded me of the movie Back To The Future, but because it was moving in the opposite direction, it could be called “Back To The Sixties.” I’m referring to the recently-concluded DNC convention.

The accent on peace and love was so large the gathering had the flavor of a giant hippie commune. All that were missing were the love beads, bongs and verses of Kumbaya.

And, of course, when it came to politics, their presidential candidate trotted out the same old tax and spend, let’s soak the rich, big government plans straight out of that bygone era. Could she be the reincarnation of JFK?

Outside the hall there were Marxists, flag burners, marijuana smokers and peaceniks, all advocating for causes grown old when Woodstock was new.

I thought I was caught in a time warp. I blinked my eyes, took a deep breath, and quickly changed channels.

Combat opioid abuse

Over the last decade, the abuse of opioids has skyrocketed, causing harm to those that use and their family, friends and neighbors. Every inch of Pennsylvania, including our own community, has felt the impact and devastation of opioids. To combat the growing wave of opioid abuse, the House of Representatives has recently passed three pieces of legislation with overwhelming bipartisan support — House Bills 1698, 1699, and 1805.

House Bill 1698 requires insurance companies to provide coverage for at least three abuse-deterrent opioids for every one opioid product they cover. Also, this legislation prohibits insurance companies from requiring insured patients to use a non-ADO before they will cover the use of an ADO.

House Bill 1699 places a limit on the quantity of opioid drug products a health care practitioner can prescribe to a patient seeking treatment in an emergency department or urgent care center.

Lastly, House Bill 1805 directs the PA Department of State to require its relevant licensing boards to ensure that licensed and certified prescribers and dispensers receive appropriate addiction education as a condition of licensure.

These three pieces of legislation will be key as we move forward to combat the abuse of opioids. As your state representative, I will continue to work for solutions to ensure the safety of our community.

Our sincerest thanks

The outpouring of love and support that we have received from our neighborhood community since our tragic house fire and the loss of our beautiful, beloved Sophia has been overwhelming.

Whether you attended her funeral, displayed a pink light or ribbon in her honor, sent a card, a note of sympathy, or a donation, offered words of comfort, or simply gave us a hug please know that it was very much appreciated.

It is an impossible task for us to send that many individual thank you notes, especially since many contributions were made anonymously.

Hopefully, you will all read this letter and realize just how grateful we both are.
