Road rage leads to shooting in Far NE

Road rage sparked a shooting near Philadelphia Mills mall on Sunday evening, police say.

A 19-year-old man told investigators that he had just left the shopping mall at about 7 p.m. and was driving his car southbound on Knights Road when he attempted to turn left onto Normandy Drive. An unidentified man in a black Cadillac SRX cut him off, he claimed. The two drivers exchanged hostile words.

As the Cadillac left the scene, the other motorist, who was in a Honda, heard a single gunshot. He followed the Cadillac eastbound on Woodhaven Road then southbound on Interstate 95. The Cadillac exited the highway at Academy Road, police said.

The Honda driver returned to his nearby home, where he contacted police. Officers found a bullet hole in the hood of the Honda and a bullet inside the car.

There have been no arrests. ••
