Volunteers collected 11 trash bags of litter and one bag of recyclable cans during the monthly Pennypack Park cleanup on Aug. 27 at Pennypack on the Delaware.
Nineteen people took part in the community service day, which was organized by Friends of Pennypack Park and held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pennypack on the Delaware is the recreation area at the mouth of the creek where it flows into the Delaware River. It’s accessible from State Road, just south of Rhawn Street.
Participants included Marianne Mari, Gloria and David El, Dean Lynd, Marie Coyle, Ken Lewis, Rich Glaser, Joan Henry-Graham, Tim and Corinne McAndrews, Walt and Joe Calhoun, Dan Coonan, Roland Williams, Joyce Ferrero, Ken Sweetra, Melissa Gilderman, Sondra Greenberg and Nance Kerns.
The next FOPP park cleanup will be on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. Volunteers will meet in the Little City parking lot, accessible via Rhawn Street opposite from Holmehurst Avenue. Workers should wear long pants and sturdy, comfortable footwear. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
