Two men used a U-Haul truck to burglarize a Northeast Philadelphia self-storage facility on Sept. 15, but it wasn’t the vehicle’s payload capacity that the crooks found most useful.
They used the truck to plow through the front doors of the Public Storage, 2700 Grant Ave., police say. Often, bandits who target storage sites will pry open individual garages looking for hidden treasures. But in this case, the burglars merely grabbed a safe from the front office and sped off in an unknown direction.
Investigators hope that someone will recognize the crooks from surveillance video of the heist. Police have no description of the driver. But the “inside” man was described as white, 30 years old, thin, with long brown hair, a black hat, orange T-shirt, tan pants and black shoes.
