Thomas Day Sr., a Northeast resident who served in the U.S. Army in Korea, was one of those honored during the ceremony.

He was also presented with a piece of the wire dividing North and South Korea. The commemorative sections of wire were packaged by the Republic of Korea, numbered so they know where on the wall it came from, and presented to special veterans for their service. They were made for the 50th anniversary of the division between North and South Korea. ••
