Info needed on accident

This letter is a plea asking for people to take responsibility for their actions.

On Friday, Oct. 28, at approximately 8:30 a.m., on the outside, south lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard, near Bowler Street, across from Walmart, a construction vehicle sideswiped an SUV, sending the driver onto the sidewalk. The driver of that vehicle never stopped.

The SUV was driven by my daughter, a young mother of two, full-time student with a full-time job. This accident has left her family in tremendous financial distress. All but for one kind man, who didn’t witness the accident, stopped to help my daughter. Without witnesses, or a full description of the aggressive driver’s vehicle, my daughter and her husband are unable to seek any retribution for this horrible incident. The accident sent her to the emergency room and her injuries have kept her out of work, creating a financial loss as well.

They are forced to juggle one car to get my grandson to school, my daughter to class, the baby to the sitter and my son-in-law to work.

Also negligent in this matter is the insurance company, which relied on its agent to provide them a full coverage policy to protect their family on the road. The policy issued was a bare-bones policy that leaves them unable to request camera footage from the police and/or parking authority to get a description or license plate of the construction vehicle.

I am asking if anyone witnessed this incident, please call the 7th district, or any police station and report what you saw. There are work trucks up and down the Boulevard. If you noticed one of your vehicles has passenger side damage, question the driver and report the incident. If you witnessed this accident, please help this young couple recover and move forward. I thank God my grandchildren were not in the car and we are blessed that my daughter had the skills to control her car to avoid further damage. That being said, the impact of this accident has left them in a terrible situation.

If you saw something, say something. We need for society to do the right thing again and not accept lawless behavior as the norm. The person who caused this accident is able to continue on with their life without consequence, but what about your victims? There lives have been forever changed. If anyone can shed some light on this matter, we would be grateful and my children could get some resolution and put this awful accident behind them.

Mainstream media not fair

In response to an article printed in the Oct. 5 edition of the Northeast Times:

In your article, “Fair and Balanced,” the author states that “mainstream media will strive towards objectivity.” Then he lists as mainstream the New York Times.

Is he kidding? The New York Times is so patently liberal that its articles are not to be trusted with regard to objectivity. In particular, its reportage on Israel is so egregiously biased that it serves merely to incite its readers to disparage the Jewish State and hold it up to an impossible double standard.

I happen to be an avid follower of Fox News. Despite its huge popularity Atkins dubs it among the “transparently partial.” So I guess he doesn’t include it among the “mainstream media.” I’ll have to agree that some of its programs espouse a conservative viewpoint, but most do not. When an issue is discussed there is very generally a sincere effort to present proponents of opposing views. By the way, who originated that slogan “Fair and Balanced?” Fox News, of course.

Let’s debate abortion issues

In response to a Letter to the Editor, “Let wo-men make the choice,” printed in the Nov. 2 edition of the Northeast Times:

Linda Einbinder has exercised her First Amendment right by countering my letter with an opposing point of view.

Linda, I challenge you to debate the issue with me. sometime after the election. I will take this opportunity, to tell people, what I did not say, the first time around.

A woman who is raped or has suffered incest should have every right to have an abortion early on in their pregnancy. Both no-brainers.

For example, victims of rape and incest are traumatized. Moreover, the rapist, may be HIV positive, or worse.

Experts in the medical field tell me that incest victims — should they bring their child to term — face the possibility of said child having developmental disorders going forward, such as Down syndrone and autism spectrum disorders.
