The Friends of Pleasant Hill Park is a 3-year-old community group of volunteers that supports the city’s Pleasant Hill Park at Linden and Delaware avenues in East Torresdale. The group recently chose Tommy Michener as the recipient of its annual Volunteer Award.
Michener is a longtime resident of East Torresdale’s Pleasant Hill section and has always made the effort to help out at all friends group events. He can be seen in the park daily with a trash bag in hand cleaning up after other park visitors.
In addition to recognizing Michener, the friends group is working with the Friends of Lardner Point in Tacony and the Delaware River City Corporation for 2017 event planning. Information about community fishing days, movie nights, clean-up days and other fun, family-friendly events will be posted when available on the Friends of Pleasant Hill website and in a new kiosk positioned in the park near the playground area.
