Local veterans launch campaign for a Global War on Terrorism Memorial

Buy shirts to help support a Korean and Vietnam war memorial.

Some Northeast Philadelphia veterans have launched a campaign to raise money for a new Global War on Terrorism Memorial in the city. The effort includes the new release of a custom t-shirt in partnership with the Art History 101 apparel store at 7045 Frankford Ave.

The black shirts feature red, white, blue and gold printing with an image of a War on Terrorism Service Medal, silhouettes of U.S. service members and a silhouette of the gravesite of a fallen service member, as well as a stars and stripes accents and the geographic outline of Pennsylvania.

The shirts are available for $20 via arthistory101.com or at the Mayfair store. Proceeds will be collected by local veteran Tim Wynn, a mentor coordinator for Philadelphia’s Veterans Court, and donated to the Global War on Terrorism Memorial project, which seeks to create the installation near the city’s Korean and Vietnam war memorials at Penn’s Landing. Visit gwotmemorial.org for information. ••
