Archbishop announces priest appointments

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput on Saturday announced priest appointments, effective June 19.

Below are the changes that impact local parishes and other institutions.

The Rev. James E. Dalton, principal at Father Judge High School, will be the school minister at Neumann-Goretti. The new Judge principal will be Bill Schilling, a 1976 graduate who has been the principal at New Foundations Charter High School for the last seven years.

The Rev. James R. DeGrassa, parochial administrator pro tem at St. Cornelius in Chadds Ford, will be the new pastor at Resurrection of Our Lord. Our Lady of Ransom will be merging into Resurrection.

The Rev, Thomas A. Nasta, pastor at Our Lady of Ransom, will become pastor at Sacred Heart Parish, in Swedesburg.

The Rev. Joseph E. Howarth, pastor at Resurrection, will become pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish, in Jenkintown.

The Rev. Bernard C. Farley, chaplain at St. John Neumann Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, will be retiring. The Rev. Anthony J. Cossavella, a parochial vicar at St. Andrew in Drexel Hill, will be the new chaplain and reside at St. Albert the Great Parish.

The Rev. Mardean E. Miller, parochial vicar at St. Cecilia, will be the new pastor at St. Anne. The Rev. Brian A. Izzo, vicar pro tem at St. Anastasia in Newtown Square, will be a vicar at St. Cecilia Parish.

The Rev. Kevin T. Mulligan, parochial vicar at Our Lady of Calvary, will be the new pastor at St. Genevieve, in Flourtown.

The Rev. Roland D. Slobogin, pastor at St. Matthew Parish, will assume the same role at Our Lady of Fatima, in Secane. The Rev. Patrick J. Welsh, director of liturgy and vice rector for the theological seminary at St. Charles Borromeo, will replace Slobogin at St. Matt’s.

The Rev. Armand D. Garcia, vicar at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Roxborough, will be parochial administrator pro tem at St. Martin of Tours.

The Rev. Joseph S. Zaleski, vicar at St. Katherine of Siena Parish, will join the faculty at Bonner-Prendergast High School. The Rev. William S. Lange will return from a leave of absence to replace Zaleski at SKS.

The Rev. Daniel J. Dwyer, vicar at Maternity BVM Parish, will assume the same role at St. Anastasia, in Newtown Square. The Rev. Michael J. Saban, vicar at Visitation BVM in Norristown, will replace Dwyer at Maternity BVM. ••
