Teacher knows best: Three Northeast school teachers were among those honored in this year’s My Favorite Teacher Contest.

The Barnes & Noble store in Neshaminy Mall recently honored teachers and students who participated in this year’s My Favorite Teacher Contest.

Middle and high school students submitted essays to the store, sharing how their teachers have influenced their lives and why they admire and appreciate them.

Three Northeast school teachers were selected by the judging panel to receive honorable mentions.

They are Maternity BVM’s Mary Lyons, nominated by sixth-grade student Isha Mankar; CCA Baldi Middle School’s Kathryn Smoyer, nominated by seventh-grade student Amanda Toska; and New Foundations Charter School’s Jon Gonzales, nominated by eighth-grade student MiKayla McDonnell.

The winning teacher, Briana Wisniewski, of Villa Joseph Marie High School in Northampton, was nominated by sophomore Erin Devine.

All received certificates of recognition and Barnes & Noble gift cards. ••
