A gunman wearing a ski cap assaulted and robbed a clerk inside a Fox Chase convenience store early Tuesday, according to police, who have released surveillance video of the violent crime.
Just before 2:30 a.m., the attacker entered the 7-Eleven at 8101 Oxford Ave. and began shopping. After placing items on the sales counter, he walked to the cashier’s station, pulled a gun and struck the employee twice in the head. The robber then yanked the cash register drawer from its slot and carried it intact to the exit. He fled in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and took the clerk to Jeanes Hospital, where he was treated for undisclosed injuries and released that day.
The suspect was described as white, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium to muscular build. He had a brown mustache and beard. He wore a green long-sleeved shirt with a button collar, black baggy shorts, black shoes and a dark ski cap. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
