Cohen previously served as the board’s vice chairman and is the senior executive vice president for Comcast Corporation.
Philadelphia Theatre Company announced David L. Cohen as its next chairman of the board.
Cohen served as vice chairman for the last two years. He is joined on the executive committee by vice chairwoman Julia Ericksen, treasurer John Hanamirian and secretary Carol Saline.
E. Gerald Riesenbach, who is stepping down as chairman after nearly nine years in that role, said, “I am extremely pleased to have David assume the role of chair as my successor. His extensive experience in both for-profit and nonprofit will be instrumental in PTC’s continued growth as the region’s top producer of new American plays and musicals. We look forward to PTC having the benefit of that leadership, his ideas and advice as we take the next steps in implementing PTC’s exciting plans for the future.”
“I look forward to working with PTC’s new producing artistic director, Paige Price, and have great confidence in her creativity and leadership during this important transition year,” Cohen said. “PTC is one of the premier theater companies in Philadelphia, and I am excited to communicate my enthusiasm for PTC’s work to a broad philanthropic and corporate audience.”
Cohen is senior executive vice president of Comcast Corporation. He previously served as a partner in and chairman of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, one of the 100 largest law firms in the country. He was chief of staff for Mayor Ed Rendell during the 1990s. ••
