Cardinal Dougherty alumni announce weekend events

Cost of participating in these fun events will go toward a good cause.

Though Cardinal Dougherty High School closed in 2010, alumni and friends still get together one weekend a year in North Wildwood, New Jersey.

On Friday night from 7 to 9, Steve Weiler (class of 1984) and Ed Sickel (class of 1969) will be guest bartenders at Keenan’s Irish Pub, 113 Olde New Jersey Ave.

On Saturday at 10 a.m., the Cardinal Dougherty High School Soccer Alumni will hold its annual Garnet and Gold Game at Bill Henfey Park, 8th and Central avenues.

Also on Saturday, from 2 to 7 p.m., the 21st annual CD Soar at the Shore will be at Keenan’s. The organizing committee is headed by Angela Polec (class of 2003), daughter of the late Mike Prendergast (class of 1969), who founded the event.

The cost is $30 in advance and $35 at the door, and includes a hot buffet and drink specials.

Proceeds will benefit the CD Legacy Fund, in memory of Mike Prendergast; the Charlotte Drummond Memorial Scholarship Fund; the Colleen Smith ’10 Memorial Fund; Fox Chase Champions; and Natalie Varallo McNish ‘82.

On Sunday at 10:30 a.m., there will be a Mass at the Lou Booth Amphitheater, on the beach near 2nd and Ocean avenues.
