The crook spent several minutes trying to breach the glass front doors, but fled empty handed.
An unidentified burglar tried to use a crowbar and a blowtorch to break into a Somerton gas station minimart on June 18, but he apparently had the wrong tools for the job.
After spending several minutes trying and failing to pry open and cut through a deadbolt on the glass front doors at Philly Gas, 10188 Bustleton Ave., the inept crook fled empty handed, according to police, who released an edited video of the episode.
The crime happened before dawn. An employee discovered the tampering when he arrived for work at about 7 a.m. A manager then retrieved the surveillance video from a camera positioned inside the front door. Another camera recorded images of the burglar’s getaway vehicle, identified by police as a Ford Escape compact SUV.
