You won’t have to travel far to get your passport.
Officials earlier this month cut a ribbon formally opening a passport office at Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave.
Cutting the ribbon were state Rep. Kevin Boyle (D-172nd dist.); Siobhan Reardon, president and director of the Free Library of Philadelphia; Peter Lehu, manager of Northeast Regional Library; and Bridget Bielicki, customer service manager for the Philadelphia Passport Agency.
The U.S. Department of State designated Northeast Regional as a passport acceptance facility.
The office is on the first floor of the library, and handles photos and processing for new passports only. To renew a passport, go to travel.state.gov/passport/renew/renew_836.html.
Two agents staff the office, which is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Customers can pay with money orders or personal checks. Cash is not accepted. An expedited service is available.
