Two men walked into a Castor Gardens barbershop around lunchtime on Aug. 8, but they didn’t go there for haircuts.

According to police, one of the men pulled out a gun, then he and his accomplice stole cash and a cell phone from several barbers and patrons.

Surveillance cameras recorded the crime, which occurred at about 11:50 a.m. at Barber Time, 7065 Castor Ave. The edited video released by investigators shows the two suspects approaching the shop on foot from the north. A separate camera angle inside the business shows the men as they sat down in a waiting area.

After a few minutes, police said, the men exited their seats and approached a row of occupied barber chairs. One of the suspects pulled a gun. The crooks took about $90 and an iPhone 7 from the other occupants of the room. They fled the shop by running northbound on Castor toward Princeton Avenue.

The gunman was described as black, 6 feet 1 inch tall and stocky with a black t-shirt, light blue jeans, a white and gray kufi cap and white sneakers. The other suspect was described as black, 6 feet 1 inch tall with an average build, a white t-shirt, light blue jeans and dark sneakers.
