Neighbors join Northeast Celebration

The Take Back Your Neighborhood celebration was a huge success.

Dog days of summer: The annual Northeast Celebration was held on Saturday at Max Myers Playground. Above, Misha the dog, of Homeland Intelligence Protective Services, posed for pictures during the festivities.

The Take Back Your Neighborhood civic association’s Northeast Celebration took place on Saturday at Max Myers Playground. Participants and activities included live music, a disc jockey, ballet dancing, schoolbag donations by Catholic Community Services, food, a caricature artist, carnival games, face painting, train rides, a glitter tattoo artist, spin art, sand art, Home Depot children’s projects and origami.

There were appearances by the Engine 71 fire truck, 2nd Police District officers, the Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Second State Press, Mobile CPR, Steve’s Prince of Steaks, Northeast Regional Library, Rita’s Water Ice, Homeland Intelligence Protective Services and local museums.

City Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez, state Rep. Jared Solomon, city elections commissioner Al Schmidt and judicial candidate and former state Rep. Mark Cohen were in attendance. The offices of U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle, state Sen. Tina Tartaglione, Councilman Bobby Henon, Councilwoman Cherelle Parker and state Rep. Kevin Boyle were represented at information tables. ••
