The Merchants Fund, a Center City-based charity that awards grants for small businesses in Philadelphia, provided the money.

Journey Hair Salon earned a Stabilization Grant from The Merchants Fund.

The grand opening featured hairstyling and makeup demonstrations, live music, cake, wine and food.

Journey Hair Salon, which is across the street from Solomon’s district office, moved into a vacant former computer repair shop.

Miles last month spoke at a small business summit sponsored by Solomon.

“In the Northeast, we need a lot more ribbon cuttings,” Solomon said.
