Man, 80, killed by Amtrak train identified

Authorities have released the identity of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Torresdale on Sept. 3.

The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Sept. 3.

George Lynch, 80, died from multiple blunt impact injuries. The ME did not disclose his former place of residence. According to Amtrak, Lynch was standing on the tracks near the Torresdale Station at 7:34 p.m. when a northbound passenger train struck him.

Train 192 had stopped at 30th Street Station and was destined for New York City, Amtrak said. There were 296 passengers aboard. No other injuries were reported. ••
