The Northeast Times would like to congratulate the following college graduates, students who were named to their school’s dean’s list, and area residents who recently received special honors.

Local residents have been named to the dean’s list at University of the Sciences. Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a “C” and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4.

The local honorees are Christina Thomas (doctor of occupational therapy), Julie Krecko (master of occupational therapy), Vivian Ngo (physician assistant studies), Jeffrey Laov (doctor of pharmacy), Joseph Duffield (chemistry), Thomas Venditti (pharmaceutical and healthcare business), Doniya Varghese (doctor of pharmacy), Jeffrey Pocoroba (doctor of physical therapy), Jobin Regi (doctor of physical therapy), Milie George (doctor of pharmacy), Navya George (biomedical science), Sharon Varghese (master of occupational therapy), Stephen Varghese (doctor of physical therapy), Alicia Alex (doctor of pharmacy), Jeffy Mathew (doctor of physical therapy), Jenny James (doctor of pharmacy), Parth Patel (doctor of physical therapy), Nicholas Petroski (doctor of physical therapy), Victoria Ngo (doctor of physical therapy), Elena Bani (pharmaceutical chemistry), Judy Fang (biochemistry), Mei Ling Rong (doctor of pharmacy), Tommy Giang (doctor of pharmacy), Klaudio Mehmeti (biochemistry), Rachel Lyons (master of occupational therapy), Zixuan Yang (doctor of pharmacy), Alexa DiMezzo (master of occupational therapy), Taylor Lichtenhahn (pharmaceutical and healthcare business), Angeli Thomas (biology), Christina Tipton (doctor of physical therapy), Joshua Abraham (doctor of pharmacy), Armir Shperdheja (physician assistant studies), Kelvin Lu (doctor of pharmacy), Richard Howley (pharmacology and toxicology) and Hayden Sando (biochemistry).

Seven local students have been named to Alvernia University’s dean’s list. To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits. Local members of the dean’s list are Remi Adekanbi (healthcare science major, graduate of World Communications Charter School), Jessica Flanigan (biology, MaST Community Charter School), Erica Forston (criminal justice, Martin Luther King), Kirstin Gonzaga (marketing, Archbishop Ryan), Kira Griffenberg (forensic science, MaST), Kevin MacFarland (early childhood education PreK-4, special education PreK-8, Father Judge) and Virginia Thress (business management, Archbishop Ryan).

The following local students have been named to the dean’s list at Delaware Valley University: Kerry Banford, Francis Borek, Christine Buhalo, Harrison Hancock, Carly Hitchner, Vincent Manzi, Rachel Michalczyk and Brittany Young.

Wilkes University held its summer commencement ceremony. The university awarded 403 doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees to students graduating after the completion of the summer 2017 semester. Graduates included Karen Altobelli, who received a doctor of nursing practice degree in nursing, and Christopher Gasperi, who received a master of science in nursing degree.

Eric Thomas was awarded a master of science degree in physician assistant studies from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine at a commencement ceremony at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. He earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from La Salle in 2013. He is the son of Robert and Susan Thomas. ••
