City Councilman Allan Domb last week honored Patrick Kirby, store manager of the Lowe’s at 9701 Roosevelt Blvd., for donating to multiple community events.

Domb earlier this summer met with Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel, who said the department needed smoke detectors to install in homes.

Jeff George, a Domb aide from the Northeast, reached out to Kirby, who partnered with First Alert to secure 300 smoke detectors.

In the past, Kirby contributed to the Harding Middle School community cleanup day and the Warm the Sole Sock Drive for the homeless. Also, he organized his human resources team to assist Impact Services with a mock interview hiring event for veterans and the formerly incarcerated.

In 2015, while managing the Lowe’s store on Aramingo Avenue, near the deadly Amtrak derailment, he helped deliver water and supplies to passengers and first responders on scene of the crash. ••
