Flourishing business: City Councilman Al Taubenberger presents a citation to Sally Danciu, longtime owner of Sally’s Flowers in Fox Chase.

City Councilman Al Taubenberger (R-at large) last week presented a citation to Sally Danciu, the longtime owner of Sally’s Flowers, 7944 Oxford Ave. in Fox Chase.

The citation honored Sally’s for “40 years of service providing beautiful bouquets to Philadelphians.”

Danciu worked at a flower shop while attending Temple University, and said she was given her drive to be an entrepreneur from her parents, Greek immigrants who owned a restaurant.

Sally’s opened on March 16, 1977. The shop has hosted breakfast events, business card exchanges and many other community gatherings.

Danciu has been a member of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce since 1994, and serves on the board. She is also a member of the Rockledge Fox Chase Business Association, serves on the advisory board of Jeanes Hospital and is the president of the Cheltenham Rockledge Rotary Club.

The businesswoman has also fought to secure funding for the Fox Chase Revitalization Plan. ••
