Frankford Avenue, from Decatur Street to Welsh Road in Holmesburg, looks a lot nicer after volunteers cleaned the area on Saturday.

The effort was engineered by Ashville Street resident Cheryl Molle and Tara Gontek, vice president of the Holmesburg Civic Association.

Among those taking part in the cleanup were civic association members, Mayfair Community Development Corporation executive director Luka Lakuriqi, employees of the Prudential Bank branch at Frankford Avenue and Rhawn Street and members of Temple’s Alpha Sigma Rho sorority.

The office of City Councilman Bobby Henon provided bottled water, while the 15th Police District Advisory Council donated cleaning supplies and trash and leaf bags. ••
