Philadelphia Police Department’s Major Crimes/Special Investigation Unit said it recovered a skimming device attached to an ATM inside a 7-Eleven convenience store located at 5800 Rising Sun Ave.

Surveillance video captured footage of the suspect placing the device on the machine Friday, Sept. 29, at approximately 6 a.m.

The Major Crimes Unit responded to the reports and recovered the devices after a patron using the machine noticed and alerted the store manager.

Police described the recovered devices as consisting of “a green globe-shaped card reader and PIN recording camera attached to a frame around the cash slot.” These devices are able to be fitted over ATM card and cash slots and allow for debit/credit card account information and PIN numbers to be intercepted.

The suspect was described as a white male between 5 feet 8 and 6 feet tall, with a thin build and black hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, light colored blue jeans, and white Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers.

Anyone with information should contact the Major Crimes Unit by calling 215–686–3396/3397. All tips will be confidential. ••
