Officer Sabrina Sackosky was honored for her role in arresting an armed gunman.
The 8th Police District Advisory Council honored Sabrina Sackosky as its Officer of the Month.
Sackosky received the honor for her work that started while she responded to a radio call for gunshots. Upon arrival, she heard a gunshot and observed a man holding an assault rifle.
The officer retreated to the rear of her car, drew her weapon and ordered the man to drop his weapon.
The man disregarded Sackosky’s commands, threw the weapon inside his vehicle, jumped inside and placed the vehicle in reverse in an attempt to run her over.
Sackosky notified police radio, relaying information on the man’s description. His vehicle was involved in an accident, and he fled, before being arrested without incident in the basement of his sister’s house.
Joining 8th PDAC officials at the ceremony were 8th Police District Lt. Michael Labrice and community relations officer Joe Hansbury; Sackosky’s son, Jared; and representatives of the offices of City Councilman Brian O’Neill, state Sen. John Sabatina Jr. and state Rep. Martina White. ••
