Trail expansion along the river

The trail along Delaware River will expand in Tacony.

The city’s Department of Parks and Recreation received a $1 million Transportation Alternatives Program grant to expand the trail along the Delaware River in Tacony.

The grant will be used to construct a sixth-tenths of a mile, 12-foot-wide trail with landscaping and site amenities along the Delaware River between Magee Avenue and Princeton Avenue.

“This is part of a massive ongoing project to provide the community with access to the riverfront. The trail along the river allows folks to walk, run, bike and skate along the river without the worry of vehicular traffic,” said state Sen. John Sabatina Jr. (D-5th dist.). “I’m pleased that the state is investing in the region’s efforts to enhance this land for recreational use and to contribute to the multi-state greenway.” ••
