Local students collect goods for hurricane victims

Students at MaST Community Charter School sent two full truckloads of items for hurricane relief.

Helping hands: MaST Community Charter School and MaST Community Charter School II families, staff and students organized a collection for hurricane relief. The schools collected items such as canned goods, cases of water, batteries, flashlights, diapers and many other personal hygiene items. In all, the schools collected two full truckloads of items. Members of the Red Cross Club, National Honor Society and Student Council, in cooperation with school administration, led a push for items to be collected. Principal Phyllis Santiago and board member Angel Medina arranged a local collection organization, United For Puerto Rico, for the delivery of the items and helped to spearhead the process from start to finish.
