Crime Log: Nov. 1, 2017

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Oct. 16 through 29

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were 14 robberies reported in the district, including 12 that happened in the street (6500 Castor Ave., 1400 McKinley St., 7300 Rising Sun Ave. and 1500 Knorr St. involved a handgun; 6700 Horrocks St. involved a knife or cut; 2000 Glendale Ave., 900 Scattergood St., 1300 Van Kirk St., 5500 Loretto Ave., 7700 Richard St., 2300 Cottman Ave. and 1500 Magee Ave. involved no weapon). There was also a robbery at a drug store at 6400 Castor Ave. that involved a handgun (Oct. 19), and a robbery of a private residence at 400 Howell St. (Oct. 23).

There were eight reported aggravated assaults during the time period, seven of which happened in the street. There was a domestic dispute at 1300 Greeby St. (Oct. 18); two assaults involved a handgun at 5500 Hill Creek Court (Oct. 17); an incident involving a handgun at 7300 Large St. (Oct. 27); an incident involving a knife or cut at 7200 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 29); and two more incidents at 2300 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 22) and 2000 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 25), the latter of which resulted in three arrests. There was also a child abuse instance that happened at a private residence at 6200 Argyle St. (Oct. 25).

Among eight reported burglaries during the time period, three took place at a private residence during the day at 1400 Mc Kinley St. (Oct. 23), 1300 Gilham St (Oct. 17) and 5900 Alma St. (Oct. 24). An incident was reported at an apartment house at 7200 Lynford St. on Oct. 27. The last three took place at businesses located at 6300 Castor Ave. (Oct. 21), 5900 Rising Sun Ave. (Oct. 23) and 5900 Oxford Ave. (Oct. 23).

There were 101 reported thefts in the time period, 49 of which happened at businesses, 39 on the street, 11 at private residences and two at public schools. There were a total of 25 arrests made. In addition, a total of 14 stolen vehicles were reported, 11 of which were recovered.

7th Police District

There were two reported robberies in the time period. One happened Oct. 29 on the street of 9400 Roosevelt Blvd. and involved a knife. The other happened Oct. 26 at a chain store at 10000 Roosevelt Blvd.

One domestic aggravated assault took place during the time period at a private residence on Country Lane Drive. It resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Angela Abraham.

Of eight reported burglaries, four took place at private residences or apartment houses at 1000 Southampton Road (Oct. 22), 300 Palmer Drive (Oct. 24), 9600 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 27) and 8000 Ferndale St. (Oct. 27). The other four took place at businesses, including a barber shop at 9500 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 19), a restaurant at 10600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 20), a medical office at 10100 Verree Road (Oct. 21) and another medical office at 9400 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 22).

Of the 30 reported thefts in the time period, 11 happened at businesses, 15 on the street and one at an apartment house at 9200 Bustleton Ave., and one at an unspecified facility located at 10000 Roosevelt Blvd. More than $200 was stolen from a daycare facility at 9200 Old Bustleton Ave. on Oct. 23. There were also two reported auto thefts.

8th Police District

There were four reported robberies during the time reported, including three that happened on the street at 2800 Angus Road (Oct. 16), 1100 Franklin Mills Circle (Oct. 22) and 9500 Leon St. (Oct. 29). A bank located at 3900 Woodhaven Road also reported a robbery on Oct. 28.

Of the five reported aggravated assaults during the time period, four of them took place at an apartment house or private residences at 9400 Fairgreen Lane (Oct. 19), two at 3100 Morning Glory Road (Oct. 23 and 24) and one at 3800 Pearson Ave. (Oct. 21), which resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old Jeremy Rafferty. The fifth took place on the street close to Welsh Road and Roosevelt Boulevard.

There were eight reported burglaries in the time period, four of which happened at apartment houses or private residences at 8000 Fairview St. (Oct. 20), 9800 Lackland Drive (Oct. 19), 8600 Glenloch St. (Oct. 19) and 8900 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 21). Two took place at businesses at 4300 Megargee St. (Oct. 19) and 8700 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 24). One took place at a private school located at 4000 Grant Ave. (Oct 21). One took place on SEPTA property at 9600 James St. (Oct. 18).

Among 50 reported thefts, 11 took more than $200 from businesses, eight took between $50 and $200 from businesses, and five took less than $50 from businesses. Thefts from vehicles accounted for 13 of the instances. The rest were made up of thefts from private residences, office buildings and the street. There were also nine reported auto thefts, at least six of which have been recovered.

15th Police District

There were 30 reported robberies during the time period, 23 of which took place on the street. These were 6000 Saul St. (Oct. 20); three at 6200 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 20) that resulted in six arrests; 6200 Cottage St. (Oct. 20); 7800 Cottage St. (Oct. 21); 4600 Meridian St. (Oct. 21); 5900 Oakland St. (Oct. 22); 1900 John St. (Oct. 23); 4100 Higbee St. (Oct. 29); 3900 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 24); near Pratt and Jackson streets (Oct. 16); 6600 Walker St. (Oct. 20); near Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue (Oct. 21); 7500 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 23); 5700 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 23); 4600 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 23); near Princeton Avenue and Algard Street (Oct. 24); 6600 Revere St. (Oct. 24); near Frankford and Cottman avenues (Oct. 25); 4700 Horrocks St. (Oct. 26); 5300 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 28); and 4000 Robbins St. (Oct. 16). Three took place at businesses at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 16), 6900 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 28) and 4000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 26). Three took place at private residences or apartment houses at 1300 Wakeling St. (Oct. 27), 1300 Anchor St. (Oct. 21) and 1300 Harrison St. (Oct. 18). One took place at a bank on 4900 Princeton Ave. (Oct. 18) and one took place at a public school at 2000 Wakeling St. (Oct. 19).

There were 28 reported aggravated assaults, 11 of which happened at a private residence or apartment house, and 16 of which took place on the street. The last one happened in a public school located at 3000 Ryan Ave. A total of 10 arrests related to aggravated assaults took place during the time period.

There were 16 reported burglaries, 11 of which happened at a private residence or apartment house. These happened at 2600 Bridge St. (Oct. 27); 1200 Haworth St. (Oct. 29); 2200 Pratt St. (Oct. 24); 4500 Bermuda St. (Oct. 29); 6700 Rowland Ave. (Oct. 22); 4300 Pilling St. (Oct. 16); 4300 Princeton Ave. (Oct. 17); 6700 Keystone St. (Oct. 22); 6000 Edmund St. (Oct. 24); two at 2900 Benner St. (Oct. 19); 5800 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 24); 7600 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 22); 6000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 18); 3000 Princeton Ave. (Oct. 28); and 6500 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 23). Two took place at businesses at 6500 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 23) and 5800 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 24). One took place at a public school at 3000 Princeton Ave. (Oct. 28); one took place at an office building (7600 Frankford Ave.); and one took place on the street at 6000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 18).

There were 92 reported thefts, including 23 from businesses, 32 from vehicles and eight from private residences. The rest happened on the street, and one took place in a church at 6300 Harbison Ave. There were also 44 reported auto thefts, at least 33 of which have been recovered. ••
