Thanksgiving Parade set for Sunday

The 41st annual parade will be themed Northeast Philadelphia: A Scouting Destination.

The 41st annual Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade, sponsored by the Mayfair Business Association, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 19, from noon to 3 p.m.

The parade will kick off at Frankford Avenue and Rhawn Street. The route will travel south on Frankford Avenue to Knorr Street.

The parade theme is Northeast Philadelphia: A Scouting Destination. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts organizations will be honored for their tradition and impact on the lives of young people through programs of character building and training to be responsible citizens and exceed one’s own potential.

Scouts will be collecting non-perishable food items. There will be an announcer and a performance area at Frankford and Knorr.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will be collecting for the Toys for Tots program on Knorr Street. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be part of the parade.

Children are encouraged to bring their Christmas letters to give to Santa’s elves to be mailed to the North Pole.

The rain date is Nov. 26.
