Dispensary conversation continues in Bustleton

The Greater Bustleton Civic League’s November meeting included, among other updates, more information on the medical marijuana dispensary that is looking increasingly likely to open.

While officials from Holistic Pharma have not outright confirmed if they will open a medical marijuana dispensary at 8900 Krewstown Road, they have gone ahead with submitting design plans.

Greater Bustleton Civic League president Jack O’Hara showed neighbors potential submitted designs at the Nov. 15 meeting.

Previously, O’Hara had communicated with Keith Morgan of Holistic Pharma. He had requested that the potential dispensary has to be a visual upgrade from the current status of the corner, which houses an abandoned Wawa.

“I want it to be the gold standard of dispensaries,” O’Hara said.

The designs shown to neighbors were preliminary and not final.

Though Morgan has not confirmed the decision to move to the location, this and other actions indicate a strong interest in doing so.

Morgan told the Northeast Times he had applied for an extension to the Pennsylvania Department of Health to open up shop. When the state first issued licenses in June, they were given roughly six months for dispensaries to start running.

The extension would give Holistic Pharma a few more months to open. Morgan said he had applied for the extension, but had not received the forms yet.

Morgan also said that, if Holistic Pharma were to go through with the decision, they expect to open sometime during the first quarter of 2018.

“We are highly optimistic about moving there,” he said.

However, nothing is certain. The dispensary holds all necessary zoning approvals to move forward.

The dispensary has been a popular conversation topic since the idea was introduced his summer. GBCL held a special meeting in July to discuss and educate about medical marijuana, where about two-thirds of neighbors present voted in opposition.
