The Southeast Northeast Philadelphia Arts Collective will offer grants to people in the art community and more.
Holmesburg Civic Association members last week learned about the Southeast Northeast Philadelphia Arts Collective.
Founding director Troy Everwine discussed the initiative, which brings the arts to Wissinoming, Tacony, Mayfair and Holmesburg.
Everwine, co-owner of SawTown Tavern, 4717 Princeton Ave., said he wants the organization to offer grants to people in the arts community; utilize social media to promote shows and artists; sponsor events; and support and collaborate with existing neighborhood arts organizations.
The organization sponsored Friday night’s AIDS Memorial Quilt at Tacony Library.
Next June, Everwine plans to organize a free, family-friendly music festival at Pennypack on the Delaware.
The arts collective is sponsored by the Philadelphia Activities Fund.
In other news from the Nov. 14 meeting, Tara Gontek was unopposed in the race for civic association president. Bryan Gontek, her husband, was the only candidate for secretary. Tara Gontek replaces co-presidents Chris Lorenzo and Renee Cohen.
U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle has moved his district office to 8572 Bustleton Ave., in the Pennypack Shopping Center. The phone number remains 215–335–3355. ••
