There are plenty of events to help get Northeast residents in the Christmas spirit this holiday season.

Christmas tree lighting Thursday

Holmesburg Recreation Center, at Rhawn and Ditman streets, will host its annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.

Guests will have the chance to have their pictures taken with Santa Claus.

The event will also feature face painting, a balloon magician and refreshments. ••

Breakfast with Santa event is Dec. 9

The St. Hubert Alumnae Association’s annual Breakfast with Santa is Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.

The day will include a full breakfast, activities and a visit by Santa Claus. For tickets and information, email [email protected] ••

Ryan presents ‘A Christmas Carol’

Archbishop Ryan Music Theater will present three productions of the musical A Christmas Carol in the school auditorium, 11201 Academy Road.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8–9, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Tickets are $12, or $8 for seniors and kids 13 and under. They are available at the door or in advance by calling 215–637–1800, Ext. 211. ••

Santa Claus is coming to Holmesburg

Santa Claus will visit Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave., on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The evening will include cookies, candy canes and crafts.

Free pet photos with Santa this Sunday

World of Animals, 6503 Frankford Ave. in Mayfair, will take free pictures of pets with Santa Claus on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hair salon holding Christmas party

Christine’s Creations Unisex Salon will hold a Christmas charity event on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 3300 Knorr St.

Santa Claus will give out toys. The day will also include food, treats, music and activities.

Christmas bazaar to be held Saturday

St. Michael’s Church, Trenton Avenue and Cumberland Street, will be having its Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be baked goods, homemade food, lunch specials, desserts, Santa’s workshop, a tombola table, raffles and pictures with Santa Claus.

Visitors are asked to bring a canned good to support St. Michael’s food pantry. Call 215–423–0792. ••

Join Santa for dinner at Tacony church

St. Petri-Hope Lutheran Church, 6816 Jackson St. in Tacony, will host Dinner with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and hot and cold beverages. Kids can make crafts and visit with Santa Claus.

Tickets cost $7, or $4 for kids under 10.

Little Flower alumnae Christmas luncheon

The Little Flower High School Alumnae Association will hold a Christmas luncheon on Saturday Dec. 9, at 12:30 p.m. at Brookside Manor, 50 Bustleton Pike, in Feasterville. The cost is $35. For information, email [email protected] ••
