Fundraiser nets $3,500 for charity

Alex’s Lemonade Stand received the check to continue their fight against childhood cancer.

Making a difference: City Councilman Bobby Henon reads a resolution that he and Al Taubenberger introduced for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

The 57th Ward Donkeys & Elephants Team Up for Alex’s Lemonade Stand last week presented a check to the childhood cancer-fighting charity for $3,500.

The fundraiser took place at Paddy Whacks Irish Sports Pub. It was hosted by Pat Parkinson and Brian McCann, the Democratic and Republicans leaders, respectively, of the 57th Ward.

There were raffles for Flyers and 76ers tickets, a year’s supply of Auntie Anne’s pretzels and an autographed copy of the book The Golden Age of Boxing on Radio and Television.

Among those in attendance were City Councilmen Bobby Henon and Al Taubenberger; city elections commissioners Al Schmidt and Lisa Deeley; state Reps. Joanna McClinton, Kevin Boyle and Ed Neilson; Municipal Court Judge-elect Marissa Brumbach; former state House Speaker John Perzel; former Common Pleas Court Judge Paul Panepinto; and local Republican party boss Mike Meehan.

Accepting the donation for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation were events specialist Danni D’Angio and community engagement coordinator Ellie Paparone. ••
