The 115-year-old club location received a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s. The Kid’s Cafe renovation, made possible by Lowe’s, enables the club to now serve more than 150 fresh-cooked meals each day to local youth in an area where 65 percent of kids live below the poverty line.

The renovation has helped make it possible to serve freshly cooked meals instead of boxed lunches for the kids each day.

Along with providing meals, the club plans to offer cooking lessons for the kids and expose them to different nutritious food options. As part of the program, the kids will be utilizing the club’s on-site garden and have the opportunity to gain a variety of valuable new skills. ••
