Police searching for armed robbery suspect

The suspect targeted two Metro PCS stores on Dec. 29.

The FBI and PPD Violent Crimes Task Force is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspected robber of two Metro PCS stores.

On Thursday, Dec. 29 at 4:33 p.m., the robber entered the Metro PCS located at 7906 Frankford Ave. He approached an employee at the counter and displayed a handgun, demanding money and smartphones. He fled the area on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount of money and phones.

Previously, he had targeted a Metro PCS store located at 32 W. Girard Ave. just half an hour before, at 4:03 p.m. There he had displayed a handgun, but fled the store empty-handed.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his late 20s who stood approximately 6 foot 1 with a thin build and light complexion. He had a mustache and some hair on his chin. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black skull cap, ripped blue jeans and black gloves, and carried an olive green book bag.

The subject is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information should call the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at 215–418–4000.

There is a reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
