The Northeast Times would like to congratulate the following college graduates, students who were named to their school’s dean’s list, and area residents who recently received special honors.
The following local residents have been named to the dean’s list at University of the Sciences: Vivian Ngo, Jeannie Nguyen, Michael West and Shifa Zachariah, who are all doctor of pharmacy students, and Swana Thomas, a doctor of pharmacy and master in public health student. Selection to the dean’s list is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a C and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4.

Forty-nine Widener University undergraduate students recently received leadership certificates. The local recipients were Nariah Williams, studying in Widener’s School of Business Administration, and John Ho, studying in Widener’s School of Nursing.

Shannon O’Fee graduated from York College on Dec. 20. O’Fee earned a bachelor of arts degree in self-designed.

Briana Mody graduated with a master of science in sports management during commencement exercises at Coastal Carolina University. More than 700 students were candidates for graduation. The commencement speaker was South Carolina state Sen. Luke Rankin.

A total of 419 students received degrees from East Stroudsburg University on Dec. 16.
Local graduates are Jesse Gillis (business management), Nicholas Honey (sport management), Tawanna Johns (public health), Desiree’ McGarrity (marine science) and Silvi Sam (biotechnology).

Kirstin Gonzaga was named a member of Delta Epsilon Sigma. Gonzaga is studying marketing at Alvernia University and is a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School. Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national scholastic honor society for students, faculty and alumni of colleges and universities with a Catholic tradition.

Genene Amoia-Pigliacelli and Junyoung Shin were initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Both are students at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Master of biomedical sciences student Sheream Reed helped organize and lead the Baruch S. Blumberg Institute at the Pennsylvania Biotech Park’s biannual Red Cross Blood Drive. The biopark is home to Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s Doylestown campus.

Blandine Lumbo has earned a spot on the Goodwin College dean’s list. Blandine is one of 731 students to make the dean’s list, which requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A-minus average, during a given academic session. Goodwin College is in Connecticut.

Rose Pisacano is a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s swimming and diving team. She is an environmental engineering major at RPI, in Troy, New York. For information, go to rpiathletics.com
