Vietnam vets to be honored

State Rep. Martina White and U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey will commemorate National Vietnam War Veterans Day on Thursday, March 29, at 11 a.m., at Fraternal Order of Poilce Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road.

During the event, eligible Vietnam War veterans will be presented with commemorative pins.

“I am humbled to work with Sen. Toomey to honor our Vietnam veterans,” White said. “This pin from our government acknowledges their sacrifice on this special day to celebrate these heroes for their service to our commonwealth and our nation.”

“Our commonwealth’s Vietnam veterans bravely served this country and it’s an honor for my office to recognize them for their service,” Toomey said. “For over half a century, many of these veterans have been unsung heroes. I encourage all Vietnam War veterans in Northeast Philadelphia and in the surrounding areas to participate in this recognition event.”

Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. armed forces at any time between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975, regardless of location, will be eligible to receive a lapel pin at the ceremony. Family members are invited to attend the ceremony with veterans.

Concert March 11 at Tiffany Diner

Comedy fundraiser for veterans

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 Auxiliary will hold a comedy fundraiser on Saturday, March 10, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Feasterville Fire Company Hall, 20 Irving Place, in Feasterville-Trevose. The venue is near the intersection of Bustleton Pike and Street Road.

The show will feature Joey Callahan and friends.

Trip to Sands Casino on March 18

Holy Innocents Catholic Church is sponsoring a trip to the Sands Casino in Bethlehem on Sunday, March 18. A bus will depart from L Street and Hunting Park Ave. at 9 a.m. and will arrive back at 5 p.m.

The cost is $35, and includes $25 in slot play.

North Catholic class of ’68 reunion

North Catholic High School class of 1968 will celebrate its 50th reunion on June 8 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the painters and allied trades hall, 2980 Southampton Road. The evening will include disc jockey Vinny Ro, buffet and open bar.

The cost is $40 per person. Couples are welcome.

St. Jerome Seniors headed to Baltimore, Myrtle Beach

St. Jerome Seniors will be traveling to Baltimore on May 16 to see the Phillies play the Orioles at Camden Yards.

The cost is $110 and includes round-trip motorcoach transportation, lower-level seating and a sit-down dinner at Phillips Seafood in the Inner Harbor.

The group will head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from May 28 to June 1.

The cost is $620 per person, double occupancy, and includes four-night hotel stay, motorcoach transportation, taxes, meal gratuities, two shows, brunch and a guided tour of historic Georgetown.
