The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.
2nd Police District
There were nine robberies that resulted in two arrests. Travis Hettinger, 36, was arrested after two robberies on the street of 2200 Cottman Ave. (April 9) and 2300 Cottman Ave. (April 10). Rodney Carroll, 43, was arrested April 5 after robbing a restaurant at 5600 Rising Sun Ave. Other robberies took place on the street at 400 Kerper St. (April 7), 1400 Stirling St. involving a knife (April 5) and 800 Sanger St. (April 4). Two drug stores at 7200 Castor Ave. and 5800 Rising Sun Ave. were robbed April 3 and 9, respectively, and a private residence at 1200 Fanshawe St. was robbed with a knife on April 15.
There were 15 aggravated assaults that yielded five arrests. Noel Lopez, 42, was arrested after a domestic dispute at an apartment house at 1000 Levick St. (April 4); Paul Manson, 59, was arrested for similar conditions at an apartment house at 900 E. Godfrey Ave. (April 13); Tamier Herbert, 23, was arrested after an assault involving a handgun on the street at 500 Knorr St. (April 2); Anthony Edwards, 22, was arrested after an assault involving a handgun on the street at 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (April 10); and Ricardo Vargas, 23, was arrested after an assault involving a handgun on the street at 5800 Oxford Ave. (April 10). Most other assaults took place on the street, including 800 Unruh Ave. (April 2); two instances at the intersection of Rising Sun Avenue and Alcott Street (April 9); 7000 Oxford Ave. (April 13); 1400 Lardner St. (April 7); and two assaults at 7000 Oxford Ave. (April 13). The rest took place at private residences at 900 Pratt St. (April 6), 5900 Bingham St. (April 15) and 900 Scattergood St. (April 3).
There were 11 burglaries. Most of these took place at private residences or apartment houses located at 2100 Knorr St. (April 7); 2000 Griffith St. (April 12); 6700 Oakland St. (April 14); 600 Alcott St. (April 3); 800 Brill St. (April 12); 2100 Loney St. (April 13); 700 Rhawn St. (April 9); and 1400 Saint Vincent St. (April 6). The remaining burglaries targeted a drug store at 6400 Castor Ave. (April 13), a restaurant at 1000 Van Kirk St. (April 10) and a medical office at 7000 Kindred St. (April 12).
There were 86 thefts, which targeted 45 vehicles, 30 businesses, nine street thefts and two private residences. At least 47 of the thefts claimed $200 or more. Eight arrests were made. In addition, 20 motor vehicles were reported stolen, 11 of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.
7th Police District
Both robberies took place on Bustleton Avenue. One took place on the street of 9900 Bustleton Ave. on April 14. The other took place at an unspecified location at 12000 Bustleton Ave. on April 15.
Both aggravated assaults resulted in arrests. Kirsten Winterle, 46, was arrested April 8 after an assault in an apartment house at 700 Sanford St. Samaris Irrizary, 22, was arrested April 3 after an assault on police at a private residence at 500 Denise Drive.
There were nine robberies, most of which targeted private residences or apartment houses. These took place at 2300 Hoffnagle St. (April 7); 14000 Erwin St. (April 6); 400 Parlin Place (April 12); 500 Hoffnagle St. (April 5); 700 Red Lion Road (April 14); 8100 Elberon Ave. (April 8); and 15200 Bernita Drive (April 9). James J. Musgrove, 29, was arrested after burglarizing an apartment house at 2300 Tremont St. on April 11. A church at 9900 Verree Road was burglarized April 10.
There were 36 thefts, which targeted 19 vehicles (including on theft of vehicle tags), 12 businesses, two public schools, one private residence, one apartment house and one unspecified building. At least 26 of the thefts were plunders of $200 or more. Five arrests were made. In addition, four vehicles were reported stolen, all of which have been recovered.
8th Police District
The only robbery targeted a chain video store at 3200 Red Lion Road on April 7.
There were three aggravated assaults. Two took place at apartment houses; a domestic dispute happened at 3500 Primrose Road on April 4, and another involving a weapon happened at 2800 Saxton Road on April 14. An assault involving a handgun happened on the street of 9400 Academy Road on April 8.
There were five burglaries, which resulted in two arrests. Brian Moore, 43, and Terrance Williams, 34, were arrested April 9 after a burglary of a private residence at 8800 Roosevelt Blvd. The rest targeted private residences at 8000 Erdrick St. (April 15), 3900 Dartmouth Place (April 3) and 800 Albion St. (April 5), and a chain clothing store at 9400 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 10).
There were 54 thefts, which targeted 26 businesses, 24 vehicles (including two cases of stolen vehicle tags), two private residences, one nursing home and one police station. At least 29 of the thefts claimed $200 or more. Twelve arrests were made. In addition, 11 vehicles were reported stolen, six of which have been recovered. Two arrests were made.
15th Police District
There were 18 robberies, almost all of which took place on the street. These happened at the intersection of Charles and Glenview streets (April 7); 4900 Saul St. (April 9); 7000 Battersby St. (April 10); 5000 Frankford Ave. (April 14); 800 Smylie Road (April 3); 7200 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 9); 6300 Torresdale Ave. (April 2); 4100 Levick St. (April 3); 4500 Marple St. (April 9); 6400 Torresdale Ave. (April 9); 4600 Large St. (April 10); 5200 Frankford Ave. (April 10); 5800 Torresdale Ave. (April 13); and 4700 Leiper St. (April 15). William Kusznir, 33, was arrested after robbing a chain store at 2500 Church St. (April 9), and Liam Kuchman, 19, was arrested after robbing a private residence at 4400 Decatur St. (April 5). An office building at 7000 Frankford Ave. was robbed April 4, and an unlisted location at 7200 Frankford Ave. was robbed on April 11.
There were 19 aggravated assaults, which yielded nine arrests. James Reed, 52, was arrested at a private residence at 4200 Longshore Ave. April 3; Ashley Colon, 23, was arrested after an assault on the street of 2100 Stevens St. April 11; Omar Brockington, 42, was arrested for an assault on the street of 4100 Greeby St. April 9; Richard Pena, 30, was arrested for an assault on the street of 6900 Torresdale Ave. April 7; Michael Mitchell, 19, was arrested after an assault on the street of 2200 Kennedy St. April 7; Edward Petner, 85, was arrested for an assault involving a handgun on the street of 2300 Bridge St. April 11; Luis Garriga, 27, was arrested for an instance on the street of 6900 Roosevelt Blvd. April 3; Darryl Dawson, 30, was arrested for an assault on the street of 7000 Frankford Ave. April 13; and Juan Ocasio, 39, was arrested for an assault at a private residence at 4700 Ashville St. April 14. The rest of the assaults took place at private residences at 6400 Charles St. (April 14), 1900 Fillmore Place (April 15), an apartment house at 4400 Frankford Ave. (April 5), and the street of 1500 Ruan St. (April 8), 1300 Fillmore St. (April 9), two assaults at 4200 Griscom St. (April 15), two assaults at 2700 Orthodox St. (April 7) and 2400 Orthodox St. (April 15).
There were 26 burglaries, which yielded seven arrests. The majority of burglaries targeted private residences or apartment houses, and were located at 4200 Frost St., 4600 Melrose St., 5700 Erdrick St., 5300 Hedge St. (Derrick Moye, 28), 1900 Ruan St., 1800 Wilmot St., 2100 Carver St., 4400 Disston St., 4300 Elizabeth St., 2600 Orthodox St., 5900 Jackson St., 3400 Saint Vincent St., 7200 Vandike St., (Erikka Carrasquillo, 29, and Buddy Schum, 30), 1600 Haworth St. (James Davis, 27, and John Floyd, 42), 6600 Revere St., 4300 Tyson Ave., 5000 Penn St. twice, 4600 Penn St. (Tamir Johnson, 20), 4900 Longshore Ave., 5400 Erdrick St., 6600 Edmund St. and 1000 Wakeling St. A commercial garage at 4300 Torresdale Ave. was robbed April 11 and resulted in the arrest of Jahmear Hopper, 24. An unlisted location at 4900 Griscom St. was robbed April 6.
There were 96 thefts, which targeted 42 vehicles (including five cases of stolen vehicle tags), 26 businesses, 10 private residences, nine street thefts and a public school, among other locations. Almost half of the thefts claimed $200 or more. Ten arrests were made. In addition, 27 vehicles were reported stolen, 15 of which have been recovered. One arrest was made. ••
