Bridesburg man arrested for holding blind man against will

Richard Moreton, 74, kept his brother in a trailer with no running water or electricity.

Police announced the arrest of a Bridesburg man who kept his blind brother locked in a trailer with no running water, electricity or a bathroom.

Richard Moreton, 74, was arrested after police received a call from a concerned citizen about the well-being of the trapped brother. SVU personnel and 15th District officers went to the trailer on the 4700 block of James Street where they found the brother.

Medic personnel responded and transported the brother to Frankford Hospital.

Police did not specify the length of the brother’s detainment.

Moreton was his brother’s caretaker. He was arrested on charges of neglect of person, unlawful restraint and related offenses. ••
